MBABANE– Rapper and audio engineer Size Killa, born Sizwe Mthethwa, has released a stirring music video for “Legacy,” the intro to his latest album, Black Shakespeare.
The video dropped on May 7 and is now streaming on YouTube and Jelele.com, the Eswatini-based platform founded by Dr P (Paul Tarvis).
Mthethwa describes the video as a tribute to ancestral lineage, captured through vintage visuals and traditional themes. “We took a cultural approach because the song is about legacy — our roots and spiritual heritage,” he explained.
The black-and-white video begins with behind-the-scenes footage of Size Killa and poet The Silent Writer (Siyabonga Dlamini) planning the creative direction. The track opens with a spoken-word piece by Dlamini, before transitioning into Size Killa’s commanding verses. The song reaches spiritual heights when legendary praise singer Bheki Nhleko delivers traditional Mthethwa clan praises, transforming the track into a sonic prayer.
“Me and The Silent Writer already have a brotherly relationship,” said Size Killa. “It made sense to create something deeply personal with someone who understands my journey.”
The video also features an exclusive track, Lalela (meaning “Listen”), a tribal anthem performed by local artist and Timbuktu Library founder Xoliswa “Extasy” Nsibandze. She also curated the video, while Size Killa directed the overall production.
“This was a fully in-house production,” said Mthethwa, crediting Thandolwenkhosi Simelane as the composer and Nkosephayo Lushaba of Sniper Visuals as the videographer. “It’s a proud moment for our team and for the culture.”
Size Killa’s Legacy video is more than a visual — it’s a cultural statement, rooted in tradition and crafted for the modern African creative.
