TIMPHISINI – A spirit of hope, compassion and unity filled Timphisini on Sunday as His Royal Highness Prince Mcwasho publicly committed himself to supporting the humanitarian work of the Sicalo Foundation following his return from studies abroad. His pledge was met with excitement and appreciation from thousands of beneficiaries who gathered to receive assistance from the Foundation.
The outreach programme, which touched the lives of more than 3 000 households from 11 imiphakatsi under the Timphisini and Ntfonjeni constituencies, was more than a distribution event. It was a powerful demonstration of community solidarity, compassion and a shared commitment to uplifting vulnerable citizens.
Addressing the large crowd, Prince Mcwasho expressed his joy at finally being able to participate actively in the Foundation’s community programmes after spending several years overseas pursuing his education. He said while he had watched the Foundation continue its important work from afar, returning home had given him an opportunity to personally contribute to initiatives that bring hope and relief to disadvantaged families.
“As we were away at school overseas, many events like this took place. Now that we are back, I am able to be with you and become part and parcel of the work being done by the Sicalo Foundation,” he said.
The Prince received an emotional welcome from community members, many of whom cheered and chanted “Chart Nkosi” as he took to the stage. The warm reception reflected the affection and respect people have for members of the Royal Family who continue to dedicate their time and resources towards improving the lives of ordinary emaSwati.
Among the dignitaries present were Hhohho Regional Administrator Princess Tsandzile, Members of Parliament, chiefs and community leaders, all united in supporting a programme that has become a source of comfort for many struggling households.
Prince Mcwasho paid tribute to His Royal Highness Prince Sicalo, under whose patronage the Foundation operates, applauding the organisation’s unwavering commitment to serving vulnerable members of society. He praised the Foundation’s leadership and volunteers for consistently reaching out to communities in need and ensuring that assistance reaches those who need it most.
For many beneficiaries, the day brought more than material support. It restored dignity and renewed hope. Families received food parcels and essential household items, including rice, maize meal, vegetables, juice, tomato sauce, blankets and other necessities aimed at improving food security and household welfare. Child-headed households and young people were among those who benefited from the initiative.
The atmosphere throughout the day was one of celebration and togetherness. Before the official distribution began, Members of Parliament joined senior citizens in singing, dancing and sharing moments of laughter, creating an environment that reflected the strong bonds that exist within Eswatini’s communities.
As the programme drew to a close, Prince Mcwasho wished all beneficiaries a safe journey home and prayed for God’s blessings upon every family represented at the gathering.
The outreach programme highlighted the growing impact of the Sicalo Foundation’s work across the country. Beyond providing food and essential supplies, the Foundation continues to restore hope, strengthen communities and remind vulnerable citizens that they are not forgotten. Through initiatives such as these, thousands of families are receiving practical support while also experiencing the compassion and care that lie at the heart of community development.
