EZULWINI – Young rugby players across Eswatini are set to benefit from significant support after the British High Commission and SOS Kit Aid donated rugby equipment to the Eswatini Rugby Union and SKRUM during a handover ceremony held in Ezulwini.
The donation included rugby kits, balls and other equipment that will support the development of the sport at grassroots level. The equipment was officially handed over by British High Commissioner Colin Wells, who joined members of the Eswatini Rugby Union, SKRUM and other stakeholders for the occasion.

The donation is expected to help expand rugby participation among children and young people by providing access to resources that are often difficult to obtain. Coaches and development officers believe the equipment will play a key role in nurturing future rugby talent while making the sport more accessible to communities across the country.
SKRUM Head of Coaching Emelda Massadaborda expressed gratitude to the British High Commission and SOS Kit Aid for their continued support of rugby development in the Kingdom.
“We cannot thank the British High Commission or SOS Kit Aid enough for their support, kindness and generosity. The kit donation will go a long way to develop the game of rugby at grassroots level here in the Kingdom. There are going to be a lot of happy young Swazi boys and girls out there. Thank you,” she said.
The donation comes as rugby development programmes continue to gain momentum in schools and communities, with organisations such as SKRUM working to introduce more young people to the sport. Access to quality equipment remains one of the biggest challenges facing grassroots rugby, making the contribution particularly valuable.
Representatives from the Eswatini Rugby Union welcomed the donation, noting that partnerships with international organisations continue to play an important role in growing the sport and creating opportunities for young athletes.
The handover highlighted the strong relationship between local rugby structures and international partners committed to using sport as a tool for youth development, empowerment and social change.
