LOBAMBA– Sidvwashini United FC Ladies and Manzini Wanderers Ladies played to a 1–1 draw in a competitive women’s football match held at the Lobamba Technical Centre on Tuesday at 1300hrs.
The encounter saw both sides display strong determination and tactical discipline, with Manzini Wanderers taking the lead in the first half before Sidvwashini United responded with a late equaliser in the closing minutes of the game.
The fixture formed part of ongoing local women’s football activities aimed at promoting the growth of the sport, while providing players with a platform to showcase their talent and competitive spirit.
Manzini Wanderers opened the scoring through Lindiwe Dlamini, who found the back of the net in the first half to give her side an early advantage. The team maintained pressure for much of the match, controlling key moments and creating scoring opportunities.However, Sidvwashini United demonstrated resilience and composure, fighting back in the dying minutes of the game when their number 10 scored an equaliser in the 89th minute to secure a share of the points.
Speaking after the match, Manzini Wanderers player Andiswa Mdlovu reflected on the performance, acknowledging both the challenges and the quality of the contest.“We were prepared for the game. There were challenges, but it was a fair match. It was a good game and it shows that both teams came ready,” said Mdlovu.
The match highlighted the growing competitiveness of women’s football in Eswatini, with both teams demonstrating skill, teamwork, and determination throughout the encounter.
