MBABANE– Futhie Brightness Dlamini Msibi, the spouse of Eswatini’s Ambassador to Taiwan, His Excellency Promise Sithembiso Msibi, has graduated with a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree from Shih Chien University and has also been selected to receive the institution’s prestigious Public Service Award.
The award recognises her contributions to the university community and society during her academic journey in Taiwan.
A journey of education and service
Speaking during the graduation ceremony, Msibi reflected on her remarkable journey from the Kingdom of Eswatini to Taiwan, where she accompanied her husband during his diplomatic assignment.
She described her educational experience as a life-changing opportunity that allowed her to grow academically while representing her country abroad.
“Today, as I stand before you graduating with an MBA from Shih Chien University, my heart is filled with gratitude,” she said. “I sincerely thank the people of Taiwan, the Government of Taiwan, and Shih Chien University for opening doors of learning, growth, and opportunity.”
A family united through learning
One of the most inspiring aspects of Msibi’s academic journey was that she pursued her studies alongside her children.
She told graduates and guests that education became a family undertaking, with evenings spent completing assignments together, encouraging one another, and celebrating milestones as a family.
“Education became a family journey, and for that blessing I will forever be grateful,” she said.
Recognition of Eswatini-Taiwan friendship
During her address, Msibi paid tribute to the longstanding diplomatic relationship between the Kingdom of Eswatini and Taiwan, which has endured for fifty-eight years.
She expressed gratitude to His Majesty King Mswati III for his continued commitment to education and human development and acknowledged his role in strengthening the ties between the two nations.
She also recognised former Taiwan President Tsai Ing-wen for her advocacy of entrepreneurship and women’s empowerment, which she said had inspired many women from Eswatini to pursue greater opportunities and ambitions.
Public Service Award honours contribution
Ahead of the graduation ceremony, Shih Chien University informed Msibi that she had been selected to receive the Public Service Award and would be invited onto the stage for special recognition during the proceedings.
The university also requested her attendance at the official graduation rehearsal held at the institution’s gymnasium before the ceremony.
The recognition highlights her commitment to service, leadership and community engagement during her time as a student.
Admission to PhD programme marks new chapter
In another significant achievement, Msibi announced that she has been admitted to a PhD programme at National Chung Hsing University in Taiwan.
She described the opportunity as the beginning of a new chapter dedicated to learning, research and service.
“This achievement is not the end of my educational journey, but the beginning of a new chapter of learning, research, and service,” she said.
Message of perseverance to graduates
Addressing her fellow graduates, Msibi encouraged them to remain determined in pursuing their goals regardless of the challenges they may face.
“Our journeys may be different, but perseverance, faith, and determination can take us further than we ever imagined,” she said. “Believe in yourselves, embrace every opportunity, and never allow your circumstances to limit your dreams.”
Her achievements stand as a testament to the value of education, perseverance and international cooperation, while also highlighting the strong educational and diplomatic ties that continue to unite Eswatini and Taiwan.
