MANZINI MTN Eswatini is taking healthcare into the digital age through the NotsA Health App, an innovative platform designed to put essential health information and support directly into the hands of emaSwati.

The telecommunications giant showcased the digital health tool during its 21 Days of Y’ello Care activation held at King Somhlolo Park in Manzini, where members of the public were trained on how to download and use the application.

Speaking at the event, MTN Manager for Corporate Affairs and Sustainability, Thandwa Dlamini, said the initiative was being implemented in partnership with Georgetown University and the Ministry of Health to improve access to healthcare information and encourage proactive health management.

Dlamini highlighted that one of the project’s major milestones was the localisation of the app into siSwati, making it more accessible to local communities.

“The app was initially developed in English, but it has now been localized and made available in siSwati for locals to be able to use it,” she said.

She explained that the NotsA Health App acts as a personal digital health companion, providing users with reliable health information, reminders, support services and practical tools to help manage their wellbeing.

“The importance of this app is that it helps you monitor your health. It becomes your personal health partner. You can use it to ask health-related questions and receive guidance,” said Dlamini.

She noted that users can receive medication reminders, track healthcare appointments and access information tailored to their specific health concerns.

“For example, someone can ask, ‘How can I improve my health?’ and the app will provide useful information that can help them stay healthy and stay ahead of their health needs,” she added.

Dlamini further emphasized that the application serves as a one-stop digital health platform, bridging the gap between healthcare providers and communities by making critical healthcare resources more accessible.

Among its key features, the app provides users with trusted information on mental health, tuberculosis (TB), nutrition and other health-related topics while ensuring they never miss important medication schedules or healthcare appointments through timely notifications.

She said MTN believes digital solutions can play a significant role in transforming healthcare delivery by making reliable health information available to more people.

“As a digital company, we believe that if health issues are addressed in a digital space, it can help reduce the number of people who do not seek medical assistance,” she said.

Meanwhile, MTN Foundation Coordinator Evidence Ntshalintshali revealed that the activation generated significant interest from the public, with the NotsA Health App recording 266 downloads during the activation.

Ntshalintshali described the response as encouraging, saying it demonstrated a growing willingness among emaSwati to embrace digital solutions that support healthier lifestyles and improve access to healthcare information.

Throughout the activation, MTN representatives assisted members of the public with downloading and navigating the app, ensuring that even those unfamiliar with digital health platforms could benefit from the technology.

The initiative forms part of MTN’s broader commitment under its 21 Days of Y’ello Care campaign to leverage technology for social good while empowering communities through digital inclusion and innovation.
