MBOMBELA – Eswatini’s music industry continues to make its presence felt beyond the Kingdom’s borders, with celebrated DJ Obsession delivering a standout performance at the 12th Annual Sun Riders MCC Rally 2026 in South Africa.
The prestigious bikers’ gathering, regarded as one of the biggest rallies on the African continent, attracted more than 5,000 attendees from different countries, bringing together motorcycle enthusiasts, music lovers and adventure seekers for a weekend of entertainment.
Flying Eswatini’s flag high among a star-studded lineup that featured South African heavyweights Kelvin Momo, DJ Karri, Questo and The Josh, DJ Obsession took to the stage and delivered an energetic set that resonated with the diverse crowd.
Adding to the spectacle of the event was Eswatini’s renowned percussion and fire-acrobatics group, Shepherd Brothers, whose thrilling routines provided festivalgoers with an unforgettable visual experience throughout the rally.
When being interviewed, DJ Obsession about his performance and the reception from the crowdReflecting on the experience, the DJ described the moment as both rewarding and memorable.
“It felt so good to be part of such a wonderful event with people coming from different cultures. It was an amiable experience performing in front of a sold-out event with over 5,000 attendees,” he said.
Asked how the audience responded to his set, Obsession revealed that the energy from the crowd exceeded his expectations.
“The performance was well received and the crowd responded positively throughout the set. The atmosphere was amazing and it turned into a whole experience from start to finish,” he said.
The DJ further explained that preparation played a crucial role in ensuring a successful performance.
“We had a prepared list of songs that we were going to perform. A lot of planning went into making sure everything flowed well and that the audience remained engaged throughout the set. As a DJ, I was responsible for controlling the performance,” he explained.
For Obsession, returning to perform at the Sun Riders MCC Rally year after year is a significant achievement and a reflection of his growing influence beyond Eswatini.
“It means a lot, especially to be recognised beyond borders for the craft. Sun Riders is one of Africa’s biggest bikers’ rallies. Performing at such an event consecutively from 2023 until now comes as an honour to my craft,” he said.
His latest appearance at the rally further strengthens his reputation as one of Eswatini’s most consistent exports in the entertainment industry, capable of captivating audiences on major regional stages.
Looking ahead, the DJ hinted that supporters should expect more exciting developments in the near future.
“People can expect more of my performances on big stages locally and internationally. They should look out for the next event on my social media platforms. I am also dropping my debut single soon,” he revealed.
As Eswatini’s creative industry continues to gain recognition across Africa, artists such as DJ Obsession are proving that local talent can confidently compete and excel on some of the continent’s biggest platforms.
