MBABANE – A modern sports ground has been constructed at Mangwaneni as part of an ambitious relocation project by Bulembu Ministries, creating new opportunities for youth development and community sport.
The sports facility forms part of the organisation’s new campus currently under development at Mangwaneni, where Bulembu Ministries is relocating ahead of the planned resumption of mining operations at Bulembu.
Construction of houses for children and caregivers is already underway on the newly acquired farm, while a church structure has also been completed, highlighting the organisation’s commitment to building a holistic community that caters for the spiritual, educational and recreational needs of children.
The new sports ground is expected to become a focal point for physical education, organised sporting activities and community events. It will serve children under the care of Bulembu Ministries while also providing a platform for nurturing young sporting talent in the area.
Bulembu Ministries, which forms part of the Challenge Ministries Swaziland (CMS) family, has long been committed to raising future leaders through holistic child development. The organisation serves Jesus Christ through community enterprise and community care, with children living in family-style homes under the care of dedicated caregivers while receiving education and healthcare.
The relocation marks a significant new chapter for the ministry, which transformed the once-abandoned mining town of Bulembu into a thriving community after acquiring it in 2006. Over the years, more than 400 orphaned and vulnerable children have been supported through its programmes.
Its community enterprises, including the Bulembu Country Lodge and Bulembu Honey, have helped sustain the ministry’s care initiatives, while its Christian values remain central through the support of Potter’s Wheel Church, which provides spiritual leadership, training and care across the Challenge Ministries Swaziland network.
With the sports ground, church and residential facilities already taking shape at Mangwaneni, the new campus is expected to continue Bulembu Ministries’ mission of raising a new generation of leaders while providing children with a safe environment where they can thrive academically, spiritually and through sport.
