MBABANE – A total of 210 prospective students have been shortlisted for government scholarship interviews to determine their eligibility for financial assistance to pursue various degree programmes at Botho University.
According to a notice issued by the Ministry, the interviews will run from Monday, July 6 to Friday, July 10, 2026, starting at 9am each day in the ministry’s conference room. The shortlisted applicants have been grouped according to the different programmes they have been admitted to, including Bachelor of Business Administration in Business Management, Bachelor of Commerce in Accounting, Bachelor of Science in Computing and other qualifications offered by the university.
Applicants have been instructed to attend the interviews with their original admission letter, Form 5 certificate, tertiary results where applicable, national identity card, birth certificate and, where relevant, the death certificate of a parent together with copies of the documents.
The interviews form part of the Government of Eswatini’s scholarship selection process, which requires applicants to appear before the Scholarship Selection Board before any award is made. The government has stressed that receiving an admission offer from a tertiary institution and being invited for an interview does not automatically guarantee the award of a scholarship.
Government policy states that scholarships are awarded on merit and according to priority fields identified to support the country’s economic development. Successful applicants are expected to sign scholarship agreements before award letters are issued to enable them to register at their institutions.
Botho University has become one of the institutions increasingly supported through the government’s scholarship programme as it expands access to tertiary education in fields such as business, accounting and information technology. The institution is also continuing with its July 2026 intake for prospective students.
The latest interviews follow a similar exercise conducted in previous years, where shortlisted applicants were interviewed over several days before the final list of beneficiaries was announced.
Those who have been called are expected to report on the dates allocated to their respective programmes, as the interviews will play a crucial role in determining who will receive government funding for their studies at Botho University.#GovernmentScholarships
