MBABANE– Mbabane Highlanders AM have officially confirmed their participation in this year’s Prince Mangosuthu Legacy Cup, where they will renew their rivalry with treble winners Nsingizini Hotspurs in the opening match of the prestigious pre-season tournament.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, July 14, the capital city giants announced that the tournament will be staged on Saturday, July 18, 2026, at the Prince Mangosuthu Buthelezi Regional Stadium (Ulundi Stadium) in Ulundi, KwaZulu-Natal.
The eagerly anticipated opening fixture between Highlanders and Hotspurs will kick off at 12 noon, setting the stage for what promises to be one of the standout encounters of the tournament.
The club said the Prince Mangosuthu Legacy Cup has rapidly become one of the region’s premier pre-season competitions, bringing together leading clubs while celebrating the enduring legacy of the late Prince Mangosuthu Buthelezi, one of Africa’s most respected statesmen.
Highlanders said the clash with Nsingizini Hotspurs will rekindle a competitive rivalry, with both sides having unfinished business from previous meetings.
The ‘Black Bull’ as they are affectionately known in football circles, also expressed gratitude to the tournament organisers for the invitation, describing it as an honour to be part of an event that celebrates sporting excellence while paying tribute to Prince Mangosuthu Buthelezi’s legacy.
The club expects the tournament to attract thousands of football supporters from across the region.
To ensure supporters can travel to the tournament, Highlanders have arranged two Quantum kombis to transport fans to Ulundi. The club said details regarding departure times, collection points and other travel logistics will be communicated through its official media platforms.
The capital city giants are looking forward to representing the ‘Black Bull’ with pride as they continue preparations for the 2026/27 season, using the high-profile tournament as an important test ahead of the new campaign.
