MANZINI- The Royal Eswatini Police Service (REPS) Traffic Department hosted a delegation from the Gauteng Traffic Police in Eswatini for a friendly sports engagement held at the Mavuso Sports Centre, as part of efforts to strengthen cooperation and team spirit between the two law enforcement bodies.
The event, brought together officers from both regions to participate in various sporting activities aimed at promoting teamwork, wellness, and professional relationships beyond the operational environment.
According to information sourced from the REPS social media page , the occasion was attended by senior police leadership including Senior Deputy National Commissioner Shadrack Simelane, Deputy National Commissioners Smangele Motsa and Bonisile Masuku, as well as senior officers representing various stations across the country.
The sporting programme featured a range of activities, including soccer, netball, athletics, and tug of war, creating a lively and engaging atmosphere for participants. The initiative provided an opportunity for officers to interact in a relaxed setting while reinforcing the importance of physical fitness and teamwork within policing structures.
Organisers noted that such exchanges play a key role in building mutual understanding and strengthening partnerships between regional law enforcement agencies, which can enhance collaboration in addressing cross-border challenges.
The visit also highlighted the growing relationship between Eswatini and South African policing units, particularly in areas of shared interest such as road safety, traffic management, and community engagement.
The day’s activities concluded with a farewell function held at SnB Restaurant in honour of Gauteng Police Chief Provincial Inspector Brian Modise, who is preparing for retirement. During the event, Modise expressed appreciation for the warm reception and strong relations between the two services, noting that the partnership has been built on mutual respect and cooperation over time. He also indicated his willingness to continue offering support where needed, even beyond his tenure.
The engagement reflects ongoing efforts by both policing bodies to promote unity, professional exchange, and shared development through initiatives that go beyond traditional law enforcement duties.
