MANZINI – South African media personality and entertainer Somizi Mhlongo has been confirmed as the MC for this year’s Kota Festival Eswatini, adding another high-profile name to a line-up that continues to grow ahead of the October event.
Known for his larger-than-life stage presence and influence across television, music and fashion, Somizi has become one of South Africa’s most recognisable entertainment figures. Festival organisers Goldex Events and Bambelela announced Somizi’s inclusion this week, positioning the television personality, choreographer and entrepreneur among the attractions expected to draw crowds to Malkerns Country Club on 24 October.
While Kota Festival is centred on celebrating one of Southern Africa’s most popular street foods, the event has increasingly evolved into a lifestyle festival, combining food, live music and entertainment. Previous editions have attracted thousands of festivalgoers, with organisers expanding the programme to include performances by established artists alongside local talent.
The festival’s hosting duties will be shared by South African television personality Somizi Mhlongo and Eswatini’s own Asa D, a pairing expected to bring energy and humour to the day’s programme. With Somizi’s experience as one of Southern Africa’s most recognisable entertainers and Asa D’s growing reputation on the local Broadcasting scene, festivalgoers can expect lively audience interaction as the event unfolds alongside a mix of live performances, food and lifestyle experiences.
With more than three months remaining before the festival, anticipation is expected to build as organisers continue unveiling additional attractions. The latest announcement further strengthens Kota Festival’s position as one of Eswatini’s major food and entertainment events, bringing together regional stars and local audiences for a full day of music, food and cultural celebration.
