SIPHOFANENI – The 58th edition of the Eswatini International Trade Fair (EITF) is set to focus on unlocking opportunities in the green economy while promoting locally manufactured products and the talents of EmaSwati.
This year’s trade fair will be held under the theme “Unlocking Green Economy Opportunities for Sustainable Trade”, with organisers aiming to build on last year’s contribution to economic growth.
Manager of Domestic Trade Promotion at the Eswatini International Trade Fair, Sihle Nkhabindze, said the fair would provide businesses and members of the public with an opportunity to learn more about the economic opportunities available in the country.
Nkhabindze said the Eswatini Environmental Authority would be among the institutions participating in the fair to educate EmaSwati on opportunities within the green economy and how they could benefit from environmentally sustainable business ventures. He said local banks would also be present to explain the types of business opportunities they finance, helping aspiring entrepreneurs understand how they could access funding to grow their businesses.
“As the Eswatini International Trade Fair, we aim to improve from last year, especially in terms of contributing to economic growth,” Nkhabindze said. The 2026 edition will also introduce Chef Sunday, an initiative aimed at showcasing the skills and talent of qualified local chefs who are members of the Eswatini Chefs Association.
According to Nkhabindze, the chefs will prepare meals using products manufactured in Eswatini, highlighting the quality of locally produced goods while giving local culinary talent a platform to shine. The trade fair will also launch Made by Eswatini, an initiative intended to showcase the creativity, skills and products of EmaSwati. Nkhabindze said the initiative would help promote locally made products and encourage consumers to support businesses that manufacture goods within the country.
The trade fair is expected to bring together businesses, government institutions, entrepreneurs, financial institutions and members of the public under one platform to promote trade, investment and economic opportunities. Through its focus on green economy opportunities, local production and innovation, EITF 2026 seeks to position the trade fair as a platform for sustainable economic growth and the promotion of businesses owned and operated by EmaSwati.
