MANZINI– EmaSwati are set to enjoy greater convenience in their everyday transactions as e-Mali makes digital payments simpler, safer and more affordable, allowing customers to pay, send, receive and manage money using their mobile phones.

Developed by Eswatini Mobile, e-Mali is positioning itself as more than a platform for sending money, offering customers a digital wallet designed to support a growing range of everyday financial transactions.

From buying groceries and paying for transport to purchasing fuel, settling school fees and paying household bills, e-Mali gives customers an alternative way to manage routine payments digitally.

Eswatini Mobile Head of Sales and Marketing Nosipho Xaba said e-Mali was designed around the way people manage money in their everyday lives.

“e-Mali is about making everyday transactions simpler. We want people to see it as more than a platform for sending money. It is a wallet that can be used to pay, receive and manage money in your daily life,” Xaba said.

The platform can be used across a growing network of merchants and service providers, including restaurants, filling stations, convenience centres, schools, businesses, savings and credit cooperatives and online stores.

Customers can use e-Mali to pay for groceries, fuel, meals and school-related expenses, while also settling municipal services, electricity, water, TV licences and Eswatini Mobile contracts.

The wallet also allows customers to receive money and make payments to suppliers and other businesses, extending its usefulness into everyday commercial transactions.

“The proposition is simple: Make e-Mali yakho the easiest way to pay for your everyday needs,” Xaba said.

At the heart of the platform are four key attributes – simplicity, convenience, affordability and safety – aimed at making digital payments accessible and practical for everyday use.

Customers can keep up to E50 000 in their e-Mali wallets, subject to applicable terms and limits. The daily transaction limit is E10 000, while the maximum amount per transaction is E4 000.

The platform is accepted at a range of establishments, including restaurants such as KFC Drive Thru Mbabane, Debonairs, Steers, Spur, Smoke and Grill, Jazz Friends, Ramblas and Futis.

Selected fuel stations and convenience outlets, including Puma Mhlaleni, Total Riverview, Robs Filling Station, Fuleco and Woodland’s Convenience Centre, also accept e-Mali payments.

Beyond physical outlets, e-Mali supports payments to organisations and businesses, as well as online stores and ticketing services, giving customers additional options for making purchases and settling payments digitally.

For household services, customers can use e-Mali to pay the Eswatini Water Services Corporation, Eswatini Electricity Company, TV licences and Eswatini Mobile contracts.

Xaba said the company was focused on expanding the platform’s acceptance so that e-Mali could become part of everyday transactions in more communities and businesses.

“We want e-Mali to be available where people live, work, study, shop and conduct business. Whether it is a market, taxi rank, school, business or shopping centre, e-Mali should be part of everyday transactions,” she said.

The platform is supported by e-Mali agents and merchants, giving customers access to assistance and transaction points beyond their mobile phones.

For customers wishing to register, the process starts with full SIM registration through VELA and completion of the required Know Your Customer verification process.

Once registered, customers can access the e-Mali registration service by dialling 232#, selecting Register, entering their ID number and receiving their e-Mali PIN.

The PIN can be changed at any time.

As digital financial services continue to become part of everyday life, e-Mali is seeking to make mobile payments a practical option for emaSwati – whether they are shopping, paying bills, receiving money or conducting business.

With its expanding merchant network and growing range of services, e-Mali is bringing its proposition closer to the everyday needs of customers: simple, safe and affordable payments, right from the mobile phone.
