MBABANE – The Government of Eswatini is set to use the African Mining Week forum in Cape Town, South Africa, to attract investors and promote the Kingdom’s mineral resources as part of efforts to advance mining development.
Eswatini Solid Minerals Company is expected to showcase the country’s mining opportunities at the event, scheduled for October 14–16, 2026, where industry players and potential investors will explore opportunities across Africa’s mining sector.
According to a report by the African Press Agency (APA), Eswatini will promote opportunities in coal, gold and iron ore, with the aim of attracting capital to support the development of its mineral resources.
The investor drive comes as the country seeks to strengthen its mining sector through further geological surveys, feasibility studies and partnerships that could support the formal extraction of minerals.

The Government has allocated E6.13 million towards additional geological surveys and feasibility studies, which are important in determining the extent of mineral deposits and their commercial viability.
Such assessments can help provide investors with information needed to evaluate potential mining projects before committing funds to exploration, infrastructure and production.
The report also indicated that a partner had recently been secured for formal gold extraction, signalling progress towards developing the country’s gold-mining opportunities.
The participation of Eswatini Solid Minerals Company at the Cape Town forum is expected to provide a platform to present the Kingdom’s mineral potential to investors and explore possible partnerships.
African Mining Week brings together stakeholders from across the mining value chain, providing opportunities for engagement on mineral exploration, investment, project development and the financing of mining operations.
For Eswatini, attracting investment could help unlock mineral resources, support the development of mining-related activities and create opportunities for employment and economic participation.
However, the success of the investment drive will depend on the projects presented, the availability of reliable geological information and the ability to translate investor interest into concrete agreements and operational mining activities.
The Government’s investment-seeking initiative also places emphasis on preparing mineral projects for development through technical assessments and partnerships, rather than relying solely on the existence of mineral deposits.
The African Press Agency report did not identify specific investors expected to commit funds at the forum or confirm any investment agreements arising from the event.
The anticipated participation therefore represents an opportunity to promote Eswatini’s mining prospects, with any resulting investments or project commitments still to be confirmed.
