MANZINI– The Mlawula Campfire Festival is adding another familiar face to its seventh edition, with Thando stepping into the spotlight as co-host for this year’s three-day gathering.
The announcement adds a new layer to an event already building momentum ahead of its return to Mlawula Nature Reserve from 25 to 27 September. Thando’s role will put him at the centre of the festival atmosphere, helping steer the crowd through what organisers have described as a weekend of music, entertainment and campfire moments.
For an event built around the idea of bringing people together outdoors, the host can often become just as important as what happens on stage. Thando’s presence is expected to add personality and interaction to the programme as festival-goers move between performances and the wider camping experience. And there will be plenty for him to work with.
The festival has already announced gospel acts including Linda Dlamini and Shongwe & Khuphuka Saved Group, meaning the weekend will not be limited to dancing and partying. Their performances are set to bring worship into the campfire setting, giving the festival a different kind of energy.
The entertainment build-up is also reaching communities beyond the festival grounds, with a roadshow scheduled for Saturday at Tums Filling Station in Sidvokodvo, featuring Zulu D and Sgitha.
With Thando now joining the hosting team, the seventh edition is slowly taking shape as more than just another weekend away. It is becoming a mix of music, faith, camping and the kind of spontaneous moments that make outdoor festivals memorable. From 25 to 27 September, the campfire will be lit and Thando will be there to help keep the energy burning.
