PIGG’S PEAK – The transformation of Killarney Sports Ground is taking shape as renovation work continues following its temporary closure by the Pigg’s Peak Town Council.
Information obtained from the Pigg’s Peak Town Council indicates that the ongoing renovations are focused on improving the condition, safety and cleanliness of the sports facility before it returns to use.
Among the works currently being undertaken is the scrapping and replacement of damaged concrete panels and posts forming part of the perimeter fence. The project also includes welding work on the pay point gates and main gate, which forms part of efforts to improve the facility’s infrastructure.
The pay point structure, main gate and pillars are also set to receive a fresh coat of paint as part of the facelift.
Work is further being carried out on the playing field, where weeding is taking place and river sand is being applied. Once completed, the work is expected to contribute to improving the condition of the field for sporting activities.
Another feature being introduced is the installation of pole waste bins inside the field, aimed at encouraging proper waste disposal and maintaining cleanliness within the sports facility.
The temporary closure has allowed the Town Council to carry out the necessary works without the usual activities taking place at the ground.
While the renovations are still under construction and have not yet been completed, the changes already underway point towards a renewed sports facility that could provide a better environment for athletes, teams and members of the Pigg’s Peak community.
For sports lovers, the ongoing work represents a period of waiting as the facility undergoes improvements, with the ultimate goal of having a more functional and presentable sports ground.
As construction continues, attention remains on completing the various renovation components so that Killarney Sports Ground can eventually reopen and resume serving the sporting community.
