NEW YORK, USA – The Kingdom of Eswatini continues to strengthen its relations and cooperation with the global Jewish community, with a meeting held here on Thursday.
The country was represented by Minister for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Senator Pholile Shakantu, who described her meeting with the American Jewish Committee (AJC) as a major milestone in strengthening dialogue and cooperation between the Kingdom and the global Jewish community.
Minister Shakantu was welcomed by AJC Chairman Michael Feldstein and Wayne Sussman, Director of the AJC Africa Institute.
The AJC is a nonpartisan global advocacy organization that has worked on issues affecting Jewish people for more than 120 years. The meeting provided an opportunity to discuss areas of mutual interest and deepen understanding between Eswatini and the organization.
Feldstein thanked Minister Shakantu for meeting with the AJC and emphasized the importance of continued engagement with Eswatini, including exploring opportunities for closer economic cooperation.
The minister said Eswatini values partnerships that build stronger connections and create practical opportunities for cooperation. Agriculture, technology, health and commerce were identified as potential areas for collaboration, alongside the importance of continued dialogue.
Eswatini and Israel established diplomatic relations in 1968. The meeting reflects the Kingdom’s broader engagement with the global Jewish community and its interest in developing constructive relationships based on mutual understanding.
The meeting was held on the sidelines of the 81st United Nations General Assembly, attended and addressed by His Majesty the King on Wednesday afternoon.
In his adddress, the King emphasised, among other issues, the importance of dialogue and cooperation for the greater good of nations of the world.
