LOBAMBA— Forty athletes from across Eswatini’s sporting codes recently completed the historic Athlete365 Career+ Workshop at the Olympafrica Centre in Lobamba, receiving certificates of attendance to mark their participation in this groundbreaking initiative.

Hosted by the Athletes Commission, the two-day program offered athletes practical tools to prepare for life after sport, emphasizing self-discovery, career planning, and translating athletic experience into professional skills. Participants learned how to define their personal strengths beyond competition and craft compelling CVs that showcase their sporting achievements as valuable career assets.

The sessions were led by internationally recognized educators, Kadidiatou Kanoute (Kady) from Mali and Lechedzani Luza (Luza) from Botswana, whose guidance helped athletes reflect on their personal and professional development.

Organizers noted that the workshop is a critical step in ensuring athletes have a smooth transition from the playing field to the workplace. “The workshop was all about empowering athletes who are retired and those who are about to retire to have tools to prepare themselves in the outside world. They were taught about self- discovery and good CV writing so they can be able to apply for jobs and market themselves.” Said Matsenjwa.

Supported by Athlete365, Athletics Eswatini, the Eswatini Olympic and Commonwealth Games Association, and the Eswatini Sport and Recreation Council, the workshop underlines a commitment to nurturing athletes as complete individuals measuring success not only in medals but in the ability to adapt and excel when the spotlight fades.

For the 40 participants, the workshop was more than a learning experience; it was a launchpad for new opportunities, symbolized by the certificates they proudly received at the conclusion of the program.
