MALKERNS – The countdown to Africa’s most celebrated multi-cultural gathering has officially begun. The iconic House on Fire lawns in Malkerns, Eswatini, will come alive from 29 to 31 May 2026, as the MTN Bushfire Festival hosts its highly anticipated 19th edition.

 Organisers have unveiled a stellar, globe-spanning programme across four distinct stages, promising an unforgettable celebration of music, theatre, and conscious arts designed to ignite collective creative passion under this year’s resounding call to action: “Bring Your Fire”.

The massive three-day continental showcase will draw thousands of global music lovers, artists, and cultural activists to the Malkerns Valley. To accommodate the massive influx, festival gates are scheduled to open at 16:00 on Friday, and early at 10:00 on both Saturday and Sunday.

By curated design, the festival will experience a continuous sonic transformation across the weekend, operating deep into the night on Friday and Saturday before wrapping up with a soulful evening finale on Sunday at 22:00. Attendees can navigate their weekend journey across four dedicated arenas: the iconic Main Stage, the high-octane Corona Firefly Stage, the culturally intimate House on Fire Amphitheatre Stage, and the interactive Bring Your Fire Zone Stage.

The programming boasts an incredible geographical spread, bridging local Eswatini (SZ) talent with powerhouse acts from South Africa (ZA), the United Kingdom (UK), Japan (JP), Australia (AU), and Colombia (CO)

The festival’s epicenter features a heavyweight roster of regional legends and contemporary pioneers. Friday night kicks off with a burst of energy from Swaziland’s Mantenga Cultural Village Dance Group, building up to an explosive late-night run featuring global amapiano sensation Uncle Waffles (SZ) at 23:00, followed by Wicked (SZ) and South Africa’s genre-blurring Moonchild Sanelly (ZA) at 01:00.

Saturday’s Main Stage lineup offers a marathon of musical diversity, culminating in a poignant Busi Mhlongo Tribute at 21:00 featuring Xolisa Dlamini, Buhlebendalo, and Zawadi Yamungu, before handing the reins over to hitmaker Young Stunna (ZA) at 00:45. Sunday offers a prestigious closing run, spotlighting the internationally acclaimed Ndlovu Youth Choir (ZA) at 14:00, Congolese rumba-rockers Jupiter & Okwess (CD) at 16:00, and a monumental collaborative performance by Msaki & Jesse Clegg (Project Entropy) (ZA)at 18:00.

For festival-goers seeking deep cultural immersion, the alternative stages offer a closer look at global creative expressions.

The House on Fire Amphitheatre Stage will host avant-garde, acoustic, and theatrical performances. Audiences can look forward to the spellbinding Swati Strings (SZ) opening the stage on Friday at 18:00, a fierce lyrical showcase by hip-hop lyricist Yugen Blakrok (ZA) late Saturday night, and international soundscapes from Austria’s Elena Shirin (AT) on Sunday afternoon.

True to the festival’s ethos of sustainable social change, the Bring Your Fire Zone Stage bridges the gap between performer and spectator. This space features interactive community workshops, including a “Rhythmic Drawing Session” on Saturday afternoon, the “Bushfire United We Dance Workshop” on Sunday at 12:15, and an intimate cross-cultural encounter with Japan’s Anna Sato (JP) on Sunday at 14:45.
