MBABANE – The Central Bank of Eswatini (CBE) has intensified efforts to market the country as a credible investment destination by engaging Ambassadors representing Eswatini abroad in a high-level stakeholder meeting held on May 6, 2026.
The engagement, led by Central Bank Governor Dr. Phil Mnisi and the CBE management team, focused on strengthening investor confidence while maintaining strong financial integrity, transparency, and compliance with international standards. The discussions also highlighted the important role diplomats play in promoting Eswatini’s economic opportunities globally.

Addressing the Ambassadors, Dr. Mnisi described diplomatic representatives as key drivers in shaping international perceptions of Eswatini and attracting potential investors.
“It is essential that, as you engage with prospective investors, you emphasise that Eswatini is not only open for business, but also firmly committed to transparency, accountability, and compliance with international financial standards,” said Dr. Mnisi.
The Ambassadors actively participated in the session, seeking clarity on issues such as the Lilangeni’s peg to the South African rand, sovereign guarantees, and bank licensing processes.
Principal Secretary in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Sizwe Ntshangase, welcomed the engagement and said it demonstrated the importance of ongoing collaboration between financial institutions and diplomatic representatives. He further noted the need for follow-up engagements to strengthen cooperation and address emerging economic matters.
The meeting reflects Eswatini’s continued commitment to creating a transparent, investor-friendly environment that supports economic growth, sustainable development, and stronger international partnerships.
