MANZINI – The countdown to Manzini’s biggest regional celebration has officially begun.
The 2025 edition of Manzini Regional Day was launched on Wednesday afternoon at the Manzini Regional Administrator’s offices, with Chief Prince Gija Dlamini unveiling plans for this year’s festivities.
The Regional Administrator confirmed that the Business Walk will take place on Sunday, July 20, from Matsapha Shopping Complex to Malkerns Princess Sports Ground, while the main event will light up Somhlolo Park on Friday, July 25, with exhibitions, live entertainment and cultural showcases.
Speaking during the launch, Chief Gija said the event was initiated in 2016 by regional chiefs to “celebrate community talent, drive economic development and recognise those making strides in local entrepreneurship.”
“We’re inviting the entire nation and emaSwati in the diaspora to come and support our local SMEs,” said Gija. “It’s not just about buying products, it’s about celebrating what makes Manzini a vibrant and progressive region.”
This year marks the 10th edition of the event, and it is already shaping up to be the biggest yet, with sponsorship from Montigny, A1 Battery Clinic, 1 Billion Rising Solidarity, and support from municipalities across the region.
Participants in the Business Walk will pay E200, or E4 500 for groups of 25, and are encouraged to bring gazebos, banners and business spirit. Meanwhile, exhibitors from Manzini’s Tinkhundla can showcase for free, with forms available at local centres.
Chief Gija also encouraged government departments and private institutions to take part by offering services on the day.
“The more hands-on support we get, the more empowered our communities become,” he added.
Ndabazabantu Mankayane Lukha Mavimbela applauded the organisers for embracing technology.
“I’m happy that Manzini Regional Day is taking the digital route, it makes a big difference in marketing both the event and locally made products,” he said. “Even better, the website and newsletter were developed by local chiefs for free, that’s real commitment.”
Among the excited exhibitors is Tebenguni Mkhatshwa, Founder of Heritage Hut, whose eco-conscious creations, from earrings and ottomans to glassware made from beer bottles, will be on display.
“I’m looking forward to showcasing how we turn trash into treasure,” she said. “Manzini Regional Day is a beautiful space for creatives like me to be seen, heard and supported.”
With local talent, traditional flair, and homegrown entrepreneurship all under one roof, this year’s Manzini Regional Day promises to be more than a celebration, it’s a movement of community pride, business brilliance, and cultural unity.
