PIGG’S PEAK— A Residents of Piggs Peak are preparing for a notably chilly and wet start to the long weekend, with weather conditions expected to deteriorate as rain and cooler temperatures move across the area.
The latest weather advisory issued by the Eswatini Meteorological Service indicates that rain showers are expected, particularly in the southern and western parts of the country, accompanied by periods of stronger south-easterly winds. High-ground areas, including Piggs Peak, could feel the effects of the windy conditions more strongly.
The forecast points to a significant drop in temperatures over the weekend. Weather information for Piggs Peak shows temperatures falling to around 17°C during the day on Saturday and Sunday, before becoming even cooler on Monday, when rain showers are expected.
For residents, the weather could mean a quiet long weekend indoors, with warm clothing, blankets and hot beverages likely to become essentials. Those planning outdoor activities are encouraged to keep an eye on weather updates and consider making alternative arrangements where necessary.
The cold spell is also expected to affect early mornings and evenings, when temperatures can fall considerably. Residents are encouraged to ensure that children, older people and other vulnerable members of their households remain warm and protected.
Motorists travelling around Piggs Peak and surrounding areas are also urged to exercise caution, particularly during periods of rain and strong winds, as wet roads and reduced visibility can make driving more challenging.
While the weekend may bring gloomy skies and chilly conditions, the outlook suggests that the weather should gradually improve later in the week, with warmer and sunnier conditions expected from Wednesday onwards.
