EZULWINI- Cyber launches DJ career and clothing line, marking a powerful comeback journey.
Rising DJ and creative force Debra Dlamini, popularly known as Cyber, is gearing up for a milestone moment in her career as she officially launches herself into the DJing scene while also unveiling her clothing line, 01C, on Saturday, September 20 at The Hotbar in Manzini.
For Cyber, this is more than just a gig, it’s a dream realized. “This is indeed a dream of years finally coming to pass,” she said. “I started this journey back in high school, and finally launching it feels surprisingly amazing. I am proud of myself with this one.”
The celebration will be a dual affair, as Cyber shares her birthday with fellow DJ and mentor Bearngster, who has played a pivotal role in her development. “I met Bearngster by accident at Brassels Lounge after freezing during a set. He brought my confidence back and taught me how to read the crowd, lay music properly, and carry myself in the industry. It’s not an easy platform, especially when you are a lady, but he took me under his wing,” Cyber shared.
On the night, guests can expect nothing short of a thrilling Afro-inspired music experience. “I am an Afrotech house lover, and I plan to influence my audience with a bang of Afro music, both old school and new. People should expect nothing but a magical night,” she said with excitement.
Beyond the decks, Cyber is also stepping into the fashion world with 01C, a brand inspired by her dual identity and love for sporty streetwear. “The name 01C comes from the language of technology, zeros and ones, with the ‘C’ standing for Cyber. I have two personalities: Debra, the grounded spiritual young woman, and Cyber, the outgoing and chaotic side of me that deserves to be celebrated. 01C is my signature,” she explained.
The brand will focus mainly on sneakers and varsity jackets. “When it comes to fashion, always make sure you have nice shoes and a banger jacket, that boosts confidence and makes you look stylish and classy,” she added. While her pieces won’t be available for sale at the launch, fans can follow her updates on social media at @Debra Dlamini (Cyber).
For Cyber, this event is deeply personal, symbolizing resilience and a fresh start after enduring challenges. “This event means everything to me. I was buried in depression after my scandal with Miss Tourism Worldwide Africa and other personal struggles. This is my comeback, and I hope my country will be fair on this one. I’ve learned the power of social media and how to go around it. I’m ready to make my name a brand and be an example to many out there.”
With music as her main priority and fashion as her passion project, Cyber is determined to carve her space in Eswatini’s entertainment scene. “The plan is to focus on both equally, but my DJing career comes first. I’m looking forward to what this journey has in store for me,” she said.
The night promises electrifying performances, a celebration of resilience, and the official birth of a brand-new force in the entertainment industry.
