BUHLENI – Defiance by some families is hampering development efforts in Buhleni, according to Town Clerk Gordon Mbuli.
Mbuli said the resistance was affecting the municipality’s efforts to advance development and realise His Majesty King Mswati III’s vision for Buhleni.
He said some families were resisting efforts to comply with the municipality to ensure smooth development of the town.
Mbuli appealed to Buhleni residents to cooperate with the authorities and take responsibility for their livestock by ensuring that they are properly kept and do not roam freely.
He said cooperation from residents was important as Buhleni continues to transform from a traditional settlement into a developing urban centre.
” Cooperation from the residents will make the King’s vision be achieved without any hindrances,” said Mbuli.
Buhleni was first declared a Controlled Area in 2008 before attaining full town status in 2019. Since then, the town has experienced a number of developments, including Buhleni Plaza, Buhleni Fun City, a modern police station and a new filling station.
Other major developments are also underway or planned, including the construction of a state-of-the-art Judiciary building and other business establishments.
Among the developments are Buy Cash and the Business Complex situated above the new police station, which are expected to further expand commercial activity in the town.
Mbuli said these developments formed part of a broader transformation taking place in Buhleni and required residents to support efforts aimed at creating an orderly and functional urban environment.
He stressed that development could not be achieved by the municipality alone, saying residents had a role to play in protecting infrastructure, complying with municipal requirements and supporting initiatives aimed at improving the town.
The Town Clerk’s remarks come as Buhleni continues to experience growth, with increasing commercial activity and the establishment of new public and private infrastructure.
Mbuli urged families whose livestock are still found roaming within the town to cooperate with the relocation efforts, saying this would contribute to safer roads and a more organised Buhleni.
The municipality’s appeal also comes against the backdrop of His Majesty King Mswati III’s vision for Buhleni, with the town expected to continue developing as an important commercial and urban centre in the area.
