MBABANE – Government, through the Ministry of Education, has warned teachers and schools principals against involving pupils in the use of black magic during schools’ sports games.
This was on June 3, 2026 at Singwaca House during the Instacash Top 16 Schools Sports Tournament kit presentation for both soccer and netball.
Representing government was Deputy Regional Education Officer in Hhohho, Nsizwa Dlamini, who also encouraged pupils not to be involved in violence during the Instacash soccer and netball games.
“On behalf of the Ministry, I would like to urge all participants to keep the games clean and fair throughout the tournament. We hope there will be no incidents of misconduct, and we strongly discourage any involvement of learners in practices such as the use of black magic. Let us promote integrity and sportsmanship at all times,” said Dlamini.
He urged schools to also avoid violence and maintain the positive spirit that has characterised these games.
“It is encouraging to see the enthusiasm and excitement displayed by pupils during competitions. Let us continue to nurture that spirit in a positive and respectful manner,” he said.
The government representative said he also wished to express his sincere gratitude to Instacash and all the other sponsors who have contributed to and supported the schools sports tournament. He said their commitment and investment in the development of young people were highly commendable and they were truly grateful for what the sponsors were doing for the country.
“The country has introduced a new curriculum and programme in schools known as Competency-Based Education (CBE), an initiative aimed at ensuring that every skill possessed by a learner can be nurtured and developed into a viable career path. Sports such as soccer and netball are among those valuable skills, and we are taking important steps in the right direction to promote and develop them,” he said.
Dlamini added that they greatly appreciated the sponsors’ support, and it gave them immense joy to witness the growth and development of young talent. He said they looked forward to even greater support in future editions of this tournament, including the participation of additional institutions alongside North-West University, which is already one of the tournament’s sponsors for the netball games.
“I would also like to encourage head teachers to attend and support the games. Their presence serves as a great source of motivation for learners, who often put in extra effort when their head teachers are there to support them.
In addition, Dlamini said he would like to congratulate the 16 teams that have reached this stage of the competition and wished them every success. He also congratulated them on being recipients of the new sports kits, which will undoubtedly boost their confidence and enhance their participation in the tournament.
