MBABANE– Deputy Prime Minister Senator Thulisile Dladla has called on emaSwati to ensure that the festive season is marked by peace, respect, and safety, free from all forms of gender-based violence (GBV).
The Deputy Prime Minister emphasised that the holiday period should be a time of joy, unity, and reflection, urging members of the public to celebrate responsibly and to look out for one another. She encouraged families and communities to stand together in rejecting GBV and promoting values of care, mutual respect, and compassion.
Dladla noted that the festive season often brings people together, presenting an opportunity for society to strengthen relationships and reinforce positive social behaviour. She stressed that violence, particularly against women and children, has no place in homes or communities and should not be tolerated under any circumstances.
“Let us use this festive period to show love and understanding to one another,” she said. “We must unite as a nation against gender-based violence and ensure that our celebrations do not turn into moments of pain or suffering for others.”
As the country prepares to welcome the New Year, the Deputy Prime Minister extended her warm wishes to Emaswati and all residents. She expressed hope that the year ahead will bring renewed strength, safety, and prosperity to families across the nation.
“May the New Year bring hope, safety, and prosperity to every family,” Senator Dladla said. She further wished the nation peace, happiness, good health, and continued progress, noting that a safe and caring society is essential for national development.
She encouraged citizens to carry the spirit of responsibility and unity beyond the festive season, reminding them that everyone has a role to play in preventing GBV. According to the Deputy Prime Minister, protecting the dignity and wellbeing of all citizens contributes to stronger families, healthier communities, and a more resilient Eswatini.
Senator Dladla concluded by calling on emaSwati to embrace the New Year with renewed energy, optimism, and a shared commitment to building a peaceful and inclusive nation where everyone can thrive.
