MATSANJENI – The community of Bambitje, under Matsanjeni South, witnessed a significant milestone on November 25, 2025, as Eswatini Micro Projects officially introduced a standard low-level crossing bridge, bringing long-awaited safety and accessibility to residents who have struggled for years with dangerous crossing conditions.
For decades, Bambitje residents have battled rising water levels during rainy seasons, often finding themselves cut off from essential routes. Children, workers, and the elderly were forced to risk unsafe crossings to reach daily destinations. With over 600 residents depending on this pathway, the new bridge marks a transformative change.
Valued at E2.5 million, the project will be undertaken by Valid Traders, ensuring that the structure meets national standards and provides a durable solution to one of the area’s longest-standing challenges.
Local leaders expressed deep appreciation for the development. Sabelo Ndlangamandla, Member of Parliament for Matsanjeni South, noted that the community had endured harsh, unsafe conditions for many years and said the new bridge restores safety and dignity.
“We sincerely thank Eswatini Micro Projects for stepping in at a time when residents needed this intervention most,” he said. “This bridge brings an end to the fear people experienced during heavy rains and ensures uninterrupted movement for everyone.”
Residents shared similar sentiments, describing the project as a major relief that will improve safety, mobility, and daily life. Many believe the improved access will also support community development and local economic activity.
Construction is set to begin shortly, and optimism is high that this bridge will strengthen connectivity and deliver long-term benefits to families across Matsanjeni South.
