KWALUSENI- The Eswatini International Comedy Festival (ECOFEST) is set to host a comedy search show at the University of Eswatini (UNESWA) in Kwaluseni Campus on September 19, 2025.

Founded by Bonginkosi Dlamini, popularly known as Dr. Shakes, ECOFEST has quickly become a beacon for comedy in Southern Africa. Now entering its second edition, the festival aims to surpass the success of its inaugural event by expanding its reach and impact.

Dlamini’s vision centers on showcasing diverse comedic voices from across the region while providing a platform for emerging local artists to shine. “This year, 2025 marks the 2nd edition of ECOFEST, and we aim to make it bigger and better than the inaugural event,” he stated.

ECOFEST will feature a stellar lineup of comedians including Bongiswa, Darren, Boldwin Bals, and Ndosh, promising a night that caters to a wide range of humor preferences. The event will serve as a prelude to the main festival, scheduled at the Sibane Sami Hotel in Ezulwini, on September 26, 2025, further amplifying the excitement around ECOFEST 2025.

This competition aims to discover and nurture local comedic talent by offering the winner the rare opportunity to perform alongside internationally acclaimed comedians. ECOFEST 2025 will also feature comedians from countries such as China, Botswana, Lesotho, South Africa, and Eswatini itself.

Dlamini’s enthusiasm for the upcoming festival is palpable. He promises that this year’s edition will be “bigger, better, and bolder than ever before,” with an exciting roster of performers and surprises yet to be announced. “If you thought last year was good, wait until you see what we have planned for the 2nd edition. This year’s festival will be an evening rich in humor, stand-up brilliance, and a lively atmosphere,” he said.
