MBABANE – The public will have an opportunity to recognise schools that are creating healthy, sustainable and dignified learning environments when voting for three public categories of the Teachers’ Day 2026 Awards opens on Monday, September 21, 2026, through the Ministry of Education and Training’s official communication platforms.
The initiative will allow Emaswati to nominate schools for the Healthy Work Environment (Health & Wellness), Sustainability & Community Building, and Decent School Uniform (Dress Code) awards as part of the country’s Teachers’ Day 2026 celebrations.
Speaking during a press briefing on Friday, Principal Secretary in the Ministry of Education and Training, Ms Nanikie Mnisi, said public participation would help identify and celebrate schools making a meaningful difference.
“Your voice can help us identify and celebrate schools that are making a meaningful difference,” Mnisi said.
The Healthy Work Environment Award will recognise schools that prioritise the wellbeing, safety and support of teachers and staff, while the Sustainability & Community Building Award will honour schools demonstrating environmental responsibility and active engagement with their communities.
The Decent School Uniform Award will focus on high schools that maintain exemplary standards of school uniform, personal presentation and institutional pride.
The Ministry said a neat, clean and appropriate school uniform goes beyond appearance, serving as a visible expression of school identity, dignity, self-respect and belonging. It also promotes equality among learners, reinforces discipline and reflects the values of the learning environment.
The nominations will open on Monday, September 21, 2026, and close at midnight on Wednesday, September 23, 2026.
Members of the public have been encouraged to participate meaningfully and responsibly by nominating schools that demonstrate the values represented by the three categories.
The awards form part of the 2026 Teachers’ Day celebrations, which commemorate 60 years under the theme, “Standing with teachers: protecting the profession, advancing its status and shaping our futures.”
