EZULWINI – The United States of America (US), through its embassy in Eswatini, has issued a warning to its citizens currently in the kingdom following the launch of a US combat operations in Iran.
In a statement shared by the US embassy, all Americans in the country are urged to take extra caution while traveling to ensure safety.
In fact, the communique highlights that security alerts, especially in places at close proximity to the war zone, to follow security alerts issued by the nearest US embassy.
“Following the launch of US combat operations in Iran, Americans worldwide and especially in the Middle East should follow the guidance in the latest security alerts issued by the nearest US embassy or consulate. Americans may experience travel disruptions due to periodic airspace closures. The Department of State advises Americans worldwide to exercise increased caution,” reads the statement in part.
The communique further advice US citizens to rnroll at step.state.gov to receive the latest security alerts and follow the “U.S. Department of State – Security Updates for U.S. Citizens” channel on WhatsApp. When planning travel, they are urged to read carefully the US Travel Advisory, country information, and any recent alerts at https://travel.state.gov/en/international-travel.html

Meanwhile, this publication exclusively reported that about 80 emaSwati are currently affected by the escalating conflict in the Middle East, with tensions involving Iran, Israel and the US raising global concern. The emaSwati citizens are studying in Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar and Saudi Arabia. These countries, although not direct battlefields, remain within a region experiencing heightened security alerts, airspace restrictions and increased military activity.
The Middle East have seen a sharp escalation in hostilities, with missile exchanges, airspace closures and heighted military deployments reported in recent days. Global leaders have called for restraint as fears grow that the conflict could widen and destabilise the region. Air travel disruptions have interrupted several international routes, leaving many foreign nationals uncertain about travel plans and safety. Universities across parts of the Gulf region are reportedly reviewing contingency measures to safeguard international students.
