EMBIVENI BIGGEST BRAAI ADDS WOMEN’S BOXING TOURNAMENT

MBABANE – The eighth edition of the Embiveni Biggest Braai has added a women’s boxing tournament to the programme.

This was confirmed by Embiveni Biggest Braai and Philani Maswati Chairman Lutfo Dlamini yesterday.

This year’s edition will be held on Saturday at the Mavuso Trade and Exhibition Centre. It is scheduled to kick off at 6am until 6am the next day.

He said, “On behalf of Philani Maswati Charity Organisation and Embiveni Biggest Braai, I would like to state that we are pleased to work with the Eswatini Boxing Association and very excited to announce that this year we will feature a women’s exhibition boxing pitting semi-finalists who are women from Hhohho and Manzini Region, respectively, will battle it out for the E10 000 winner takes all sponsored by Taste of Africa during the Embiveni Biggest Braai this coming Saturday,” said Dlamini.

According to Dlamini, Philani Maswati Charity believes in equality, which is why in this year’s event, the women’s boxing tournament would have a better carrot prize than the men’s boxing tournament.
He also revealed that the organisation would like to clarify that all 59 Tinkhundla were given the opportunity, and these two semi-finalists are deservedly featured in the final bout, which would be broadcast internationally.

He added, “On the day of the tournament, the two women boxers would first parade in their traditional regalia, and then they would be given time to change and put on their professional boxing gear. We would like to point out that these two semi-finalists would, in addition, have medical doctors and professional referees to meet women’s international boxing standards.”

Philani Maswati invites all emaSwati from all walks of life to come to the Embiveni Biggest Braai and make history in the City of Manzini. While raising funds for the needy elderly, the organisation wants to promote culture and sports.
