MBABANE – The Deputy Prime Minister’s Office (DPMO) has officially launched its annual Back-to-School Campaign in style, with staff members wearing school uniforms to mark the occasion.

The initiative, under the custodianship of Deputy Prime Minister Thulisile Dladla, seeks to improve the lives of orphaned and vulnerable children by ensuring they have the essential resources to thrive academically.

Speaking during an interview with Eswatini Positive News on January 27, 2026, Nomcebo Nkomo Nhlengetfwa, Director of the National Children Services Department, said, “We are calling on everyone to help provide toiletries, school shoes, and uniforms.”

She emphasized that school uniforms play a critical role in creating equality among students, allowing children to present themselves with dignity without exposing differences in their backgrounds.

The Director of the National Children Services Department noted that the campaign started last year with the goal of reinforcing the main purpose of wearing school uniforms, and it was a huge success.

Last year, the DPMO distributed tracksuits to vulnerable pupils in several schools across the country, with donations from UNFPA Eswatini and UNICEF valued at E64 140. Beneficiaries included Mbhokojwe High, Mbokojweni Primary, Nokwane Primary, Lusoti Primary, Maphiveni Primary, Jack Hersof Primary, and Lomahasha Central High Schools, with two more schools still set to benefit.

The Back-to-School Campaign highlights the importance of community participation to ensure no child is left behind.

Through contributions from companies, individuals, and organizations, the initiative aims to equip every pupil with the tools needed to succeed academically, fostering hope, confidence, and a sense of equality in Eswatini’s classrooms.
