MBABANE— Employer non compliance cases have dropped sharply from 57 last year to just 7 so far this year, as the Royal Eswatini Police Service (REPS) and the Eswatini National Provident Fund (ENPF) step up joint monitoring, awareness campaigns and enforcement efforts across the country.
The figures were revealed during a recognition event held at the ENPF Headquarters in Manzini, where REPS was honoured for its role in supporting employer compliance and promoting accountability in the social security system.
The award acknowledged REPS as a key enforcement partner in protecting workers’ rights and ensuring that employers meet their statutory obligations to the provident fund.
Speaking at the event, National Commissioner of Police Manoma Vusie Masango said the recognition reflects the Service’s broader responsibility beyond traditional policing, including safeguarding systems that protect the welfare of Emaswati.
He said the decline in non compliance cases is proof that coordinated enforcement and public awareness efforts are yielding results. “This progress is not just about numbers. It is about workers whose rights are protected, families whose futures are secured, and growing public confidence in national systems,” Masango said.
He added that ENPF plays a critical role in ensuring employees receive the social protection benefits they are entitled to, while REPS supports enforcement where employers fail to comply.
The sharp reduction from 57 reported cases in the previous year to 7 cases so far this year was highlighted as a key indicator of improved employer behaviour, driven by stronger collaboration between institutions, targeted inspections and increased awareness among employers.
ENPF Chief Executive Officer Futhi Tembe expressed appreciation to all stakeholders involved in strengthening compliance and supporting the Fund’s mandate to safeguard workers’ contributions.
She said partnerships with enforcement agencies like REPS have been essential in improving accountability and ensuring that employers meet their obligations.
The recognition comes as both institutions continue to deepen cooperation aimed at sustaining compliance levels and protecting social security systems that benefit workers across Eswatini. REPS reaffirmed its commitment to working with ENPF and other stakeholders to build effective, accountable institutions that support socio economic development in the country.
