LAVUMISA– The Royal Eswatini Police Service has once again demonstrated its unwavering commitment to combating crime, following the swift arrest and charging of a 37-year-old man in connection with the murder of a 62-year-old woman in Lavumisa (Esikomu).
According to police reports, the tragic incident occurred in the early hours of April 5, 2026, at approximately 0200 hours, when the elderly woman was discovered lying lifeless outside her home with multiple stab wounds. The victim and the suspect, who are believed to have been neighbours, had reportedly been involved in longstanding disputes.
It is alleged that tensions between the two had escalated over time, with the deceased frequently accusing the suspect of witchcraft. On the day of the incident, an altercation is said to have erupted once more, ultimately resulting in the fatal attack.
In a decisive and coordinated response, police officers in Lavumisa immediately launched investigations, gathering crucial information that led to the identification of the suspect. Demonstrating efficiency and dedication, law enforcement officials successfully tracked down and apprehended the man later that same morning at around 1100 hours.
The suspect has since been formally charged with murder and is expected to appear before the courts, where due legal processes will take their course.
The Royal Eswatini Police Service has commended its officers for their rapid response and professionalism, highlighting that such prompt action is critical in ensuring justice for victims and maintaining public confidence in the country’s law enforcement institutions.
