MBABANE– The Eswatini Royal Insurance Corporation (ESRIC) has donated ICT equipment valued at E63 144 to Mpaka Railway Primary School to strengthen digital learning for pupils.
At the handover ceremony, ESRIC’s Assistant General Manager of Corporate Services, Musa Simelane, said the donation included 10 desktop computers worth E45 000, three printers valued at E16 074, and four boxes of Typek paper totaling E2 070.
Simelane called the day “special” for ESRIC and highlighted the impact the donation would have on pupils’ IT skills. “Computer labs are usually seen in high schools, so seeing one in a primary school is remarkable. I commend the teachers for their vision and the school for preparing a generation ready to drive Eswatini’s STEM industry,” he said.
He further noted that both the government and private sector are prioritizing digital transformation, adding that the initiative should start with empowering young learners. He expressed confidence that the school would maintain the equipment to benefit both current and future pupils.
Personnel Officer Bheki Zwane, representing the school management, thanked ESRIC for the donation. “This generous contribution ensures the children now have a proper ICT lab, enabling them to access the internet, enhance their studies, and acquire vital digital skills,” Zwane said.
Headteacher Thokozani Matsenjwa said the school had been seeking ICT support for a long time. “We approached several organisations, but ESRIC was the one that responded positively. We are truly grateful,” he said, noting that a secure internet connection would further help pupils incorporate online information into their studies and participate in STEM activities such as robotics.
Parent representative Vusie Shongwe welcomed the donation, saying, “This equipment will go a long way in helping our children acquire important skills for a brighter future.”
