MBABANE – The Eswatini Cricket Association (ECA) has extended its heartfelt congratulations and best wishes to rising star Noncedo Simelane, following her selection to the national women’s team for the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Africa Division 2 Qualifier.

At just 15 years old, Noncedo’s inclusion in the 14-member squad is seen as a proud moment for the ECA, which continues to invest in the identification and development of young cricketing talent across the country. Although this is not her first time in the national setup, her continued presence at this level underlines the association’s commitment to youth empowerment and the long-term growth of women’s cricket in the Kingdom.

“The Eswatini Cricket Association is proud to see a young talent like Noncedo taking her place among the nation’s best.  Noncedo us one of the young talents expected to shine in the tournament, bringing fresh energy and salsa to the team. With her inclusion in the squad, she will have the opportunity to gain valuable experience  and showcase her abilities on the international stage.”  Reads a statement from the ECA official page.

Noncedo, born on October 17, 2009, has quickly earned a reputation as a sharp wicketkeeper with a strong sense of the game. Her selection alongside senior players like Mbali Dlamini, Winile Ginindza, and Tibusiso Dlamini demonstrates the ECA’s strategic balance between experience and youthful energy as they prepare for the continental qualifiers.

The tournament will serve as a vital development opportunity for the teenager, offering her invaluable exposure to international cricket and the chance to sharpen her skills against competitive opposition. The ECA has emphasized the importance of such platforms in nurturing the country’s next generation of cricket stars.

“We wish Noncedo and the entire team Eswatini Women’s cricket team the very best as they embark on this exciting journey.  May they make their country proud and bring home remarkable achievements.” Continued the statement.

As Team Eswatini finalizes its preparations for the qualifiers, the ECA has called on the nation to rally behind the squad. The association believes that stories like Noncedo’s highlight the positive strides being made in women’s sport and serve as powerful motivation for continued development efforts.

The Eswatini Cricket Association remains committed to supporting all its athletes and fostering a sporting environment where talent, hard work, and ambition are rewarded.
