…Oman embassy in South Africa to represent kingdom

MBABANE– Eswatini and the Sultanate of Oman have taken another step towards strengthening diplomatic relations following a decision by Oman to extend its diplomatic representation to the Kingdom through its embassy in South Africa.
This was revealed in a diplomatic communication shared by Eswatini’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, confirming the growing ties between the two countries.
According to the letter issued by the Foreign Ministry of the Sultanate of Oman, the Omani Government has officially informed Eswatini that its embassy in South Africa will now represent the Sultanate in the Kingdom of Eswatini.
The communication stated that the decision was motivated by a “sincere desire to strengthen and develop the bonds of friendship between the two brotherly countries”.
Move expected to strengthen bilateral cooperation
The development is expected to enhance diplomatic engagement and cooperation between the two nations in areas of mutual interest, including trade, investment, tourism and cultural exchange.
The Sultanate of Oman expressed appreciation to Eswatini’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation for facilitating communication with relevant authorities regarding the arrangement.
“The Government of the Sultanate of Oman has decided that its Embassy in South Africa shall represent the Sultanate of Oman in the Kingdom of Eswatini,” part of the diplomatic note read.
The letter further conveyed Oman’s commitment to maintaining cordial relations with Eswatini and reaffirmed its highest consideration towards the Kingdom.
Eswatini continues expanding international partnerships
The strengthening of diplomatic relations comes as Eswatini continues broadening its international partnerships and cooperation with countries across different regions.
Diplomatic observers say such engagements are important in promoting economic diplomacy, attracting foreign investment and enhancing bilateral collaboration on regional and international matters.
The move may also create opportunities for increased cooperation between Eswatini and Oman in sectors such as energy, agriculture, education and infrastructure development.
Oman, located on the southeastern coast of the Arabian Peninsula, is regarded as one of the Gulf region’s key economic and diplomatic players, with growing partnerships across Africa.

Eswatini’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation has in recent years intensified efforts to strengthen the country’s diplomatic footprint and foster stronger relations with strategic international partners.
The latest development with Oman reflects ongoing efforts by both countries to deepen cooperation and maintain friendly diplomatic relations.
