MBABANE – The passing of coach Mbongwa Dlamini has been met with sadness across the Eswatini Football Association (EFA) and the wider football community, following his lifelong commitment to nurturing young talent and strengthening grassroots football structures in the country.
Dlamini, who recently coached at Manzini Central High School, was widely known for his long involvement in youth football structures, where he built a reputation as a development-focused coach committed to nurturing young talent and creating pathways for players into higher levels of the game.
Throughout his career, he worked within club and national youth systems, including serving in the Men’s Under-15 national team setup and participating in regional football structures in Manzini. He was also strongly linked with Young Buffaloes development programmes, where he contributed to the grooming of players who later advanced into top-level football in the country.
His work in youth competitions saw him involved in successful development campaigns, where he helped guide emerging players through competitive structures and contributed to the growth of school and club football. His passing has left a deep sense of loss across the football fraternity, with institutions and stakeholders reflecting on his lasting contribution to the sport.
Manzini Central High School expressed deep sorrow, describing Dlamini as a transformative figure in the lives of learners.“The Manzini Central High School family is deeply saddened by the passing of our beloved coach, Mr Mbongwa Dlamini. He was more than a coach to us ,he was a mentor, a father figure, and a pillar of strength to our learners. His dedication, passion, and commitment to youth development have left an unforgettable mark on our school,” the school said.
The Eswatini Football Association also conveyed heartfelt condolences , noting Dlamini’s contribution to youth development and grassroots football.“We extend our heartfelt condolences to the Dlamini family and the entire football fraternity,” said EFA.The club further stated that Dlamini’s dedication to youth development and football growth will always be remembered.
Clubs and stakeholders across the country have continued to pay tribute, highlighting his discipline, mentorship, and impact on young players. As Eswatini football reflects on his passing, Dlamini is remembered for his commitment to developing talent, strengthening grassroots structures, and shaping the future of the game through youth empowerment.
