MBABANE – Emerging artist Chiccow, real name Jabuliso Mtimane, has teamed up with Christian Maz (Siphiwesihle Maziya) to release a powerful new music video titled “Asakhe”, which is already gaining attention on Facebook with close to 20 000 views.

The video, released recently, tells an emotional story centred on a young girl named Asakhe who grows up believing she belongs in one home, only to later discover that her real home is right next door. The story unfolds through a heartbreaking letter written by the man she believed was her biological father, who reveals the truth as he faces death.

According to the storyline, Asakhe’s mother passed away years ago without revealing her true identity. As the man who raised her prepares to leave the world, he writes a letter explaining that he is not her biological father and that her real family lives in a neighbouring house. Despite the revelation, he reassures her of his unconditional love, shared by both him and her late mother.

Christian Maz plays a key role in the video as the translator of the father’s message, helping to deliver the emotional truth to Asakhe. He explained that the message behind the video is centred on honesty and the importance of truth.

“It is very important to tell the truth, no matter how painful it may be,” said Christian Maz. “Growing up knowing the truth is better than discovering it later in life when it can cause deeper pain.”

“This story teaches that honesty builds stronger foundations in life. Delayed truth can break a person, especially after they have already built their identity on a lie,” he added.

Chiccow, known for his storytelling approach to music, uses “Asakhe” to address real-life issues that affect families and communities. His work often reflects everyday experiences, making his music relatable to a wide audience.

The video combines strong visuals with an emotional narrative, drawing viewers into Asakhe’s journey of identity, loss and truth. Since its release, it has steadily attracted viewers, signalling a positive reception from audiences.

“Asakhe” stands as both an artistic expression and a life lesson, reminding society that truth, no matter how difficult, is always the better path.
