MBABANE- The Eswatini Olympic and Commonwealth Games Association (EOCGA) has joined the international community in commemorating Commonwealth Day, reaffirming the country’s commitment to promoting unity, friendship and shared values through sport.
In a statement shared on social media, the association said it proudly stands with the 56 member states of the Commonwealth of Nations in marking the annual occasion. Commonwealth Day is observed across member countries to celebrate cooperation, diversity and the common principles that unite nations within the Commonwealth.
The association highlighted the significant role that sport plays in strengthening relationships among countries while also inspiring the younger generation. According to EOCGA, sport remains a powerful platform capable of bringing people together regardless of background, culture or nationality.
EOCGA further emphasised that sport provides opportunities for young people to develop their talents and pursue excellence while representing their countries with pride. The organisation noted that Eswatini remains committed to nurturing athletes who will go on to represent the Kingdom at major international competitions.
Among the events where athletes from Commonwealth countries compete is the Commonwealth Games, which continues to serve as an important stage for showcasing sporting talent from across the Commonwealth.
The association added that sport not only encourages healthy competition but also strengthens international solidarity and cooperation among nations. By participating in such events, athletes are able to build friendships and exchange experiences that contribute to mutual understanding among countries.
As part of its mandate, EOCGA continues to support the development of sport in Eswatini by creating opportunities for athletes to train, compete and grow within their respective disciplines. The association believes that investing in sport development is essential for building future champions and promoting the country on the international stage.
