EZULWINI —Eswatini’s premier medical aid institution, EswatiniMed, has reassured its members and stakeholders of its rock-solid financial footing and continued commitment to healthcare excellence despite false reports circulating in certain circles.

In a bold press statement, EswatiniMed described allegations that its reserves had plunged from E356 million to E93 million as “irresponsible and misleading.” The organisation clarified that E300 million of that figure was strategically invested in the development of the Ezulwini Private Hospital. This state-of-the-art facility is already transforming local healthcare access.

“This is not a loss—it is a long-term investment,” the Fund explained. “The hospital enhances healthcare delivery and has significantly reduced the cost of medical referrals abroad.”

Liquidity Remains Robust

EswatiniMed emphasized that its reserves ratio stands at 27%, surpassing the 20% regulatory requirement in Eswatini and even South Africa’s 25% threshold, a testament to its financial strength. To further reinforce transparency, the Fund disclosed a detailed breakdown of its cash and cash equivalents, totaling E115.2 million:

Institution Amount (E)

Stanlib Income Fund 57 707 202

“This diversified portfolio demonstrates responsible investment and prudent risk management,” the Fund noted, adding that it remains fully committed to ensuring uninterrupted service to its members.

A Legacy of Trust and Accountability

EswatiniMed reiterated its strong governance track record, proudly stating that it has maintained clean audits since the Fund’s inception—a rare feat in any sector. The institution upholds high standards of transparency, accountability, and financial discipline.

The press release further suggested that the recent wave of misinformation may be a “deliberate attempt to create uncertainty and erode public confidence.” Nonetheless, the Fund remains focused on its core mission: delivering quality healthcare services and long-term security to its members.

Investing in Eswatini’s Health Future

The Ezulwini Private Hospital, now a flagship achievement of EswatiniMed, is not just an investment—it’s a life-saving asset. It strengthens national healthcare capabilities, retains specialist care within the country, and reinforces the health sector’s ability to serve the public effectively.

“Our commitment to our members is stronger than ever. EswatiniMed is financially sound, strategically driven, and proudly invested in the nation’s wellbeing.”
