MBABANE – The Nazarene Church and Christ Embassy Big Bend demonstrated their commitment to social responsibility by visiting the Big-Bend Correctional Centre yesterday, emphasizing that spiritual support is a vital pillar of rehabilitation. The visits underscore a growing, positive collaboration between correctional institutions and community groups across Eswatini.
Donations and Spiritual Encouragement
The Nazarene Church under the Maphatsindvuku Zone, led by Reverend Elvis Dlamini, demonstrated compassion by donating various items, including toiletries, aimed at improving the inmates’ welfare. This gesture was intended to remind those behind bars that they remain a valued part of the wider society.
In a similar act of generosity, Christ Embassy Big Bend, through Pastor Bhekumusa Nhlabatsi, donated a soccer ball to promote recreation, teamwork, and positive engagement among the inmates. Church members highlighted that extending love and encouragement to those behind bars plays a vital role in their rehabilitation and restoration, noting that such visits embody the true spirit of faith.
Partnership as a Pillar of Rehabilitation
Assistant Commissioner Jethro Ndzingane, the Big Bend Officer in Charge, expressed deep appreciation for the continued partnership with faith based organizations. “We are grateful for this act of kindness. These visits bring hope and remind inmates that they are still part of the wider community. Spiritual and moral support are key pillars in the rehabilitation journey,” he said.
Ndzingane also credited the Commissioner General’s efforts aimed at ensuring healthy relationships with stakeholders. The growing collaboration between correctional institutions and community groups is fostering rehabilitation, dignity, and social reintegration for those serving time.
