MALKERNS– The future of Eswatini’s music industry shone brightly on Day 2 of MTN Bushfire 2026 as Firefly finalists JD, MCO Jamrock and Emagagu reflected on their remarkable journeys moments after delivering electrifying performances at the Corona Firefly Stage.
The three rising stars, who earned their places through the highly competitive MTN Bushfire Firefly competition, captivated festivalgoers with performances that showcased the depth of local talent on one of the country’s biggest entertainment platforms.
Speaking after his set, MCO Jamrock described the opportunity as life-changing and expressed heartfelt gratitude to MTN Bushfire for opening doors for emerging artists.
“I am very grateful for this opportunity. It has been life-changing for me,” he said. “To all my fans, expect more music from me because this is only the beginning.”
His performance drew loud cheers from the audience, cementing his growing reputation as one of the exciting new voices in the local music scene.
Meanwhile, Emagagu reflected on what winning the MTN Bushfire Firefly competition meant to the group. They described the achievement as a blessing, particularly because they competed alongside some of Eswatini’s most talented artists.
“Being selected and performing here is a true blessing,” they said. “Today’s performance is proof that our hard work and passion are paying off in the biggest way possible.”
For JD, months of preparation paid off when he stepped onto the Corona Firefly Stage. The artist revealed that intensive rehearsals and planning went into making the performance memorable.
“It has been amazing,” said JD. “I’ve been busy preparing for this moment and I’m still working on new music. There is an EP on the way, and I’m grateful for all the support.”
The performances highlighted the purpose of the MTN Bushfire Firefly programme, creating opportunities for emerging artists to showcase their talents before international audiences. Judging by the energy at the Corona Firefly Stage, these three finalists are not only celebrating a milestone but are also setting the stage for promising careers ahead.
