MBABANE – In the heart of Mbabane, via Nkoyoyo, a young woman is quietly building more than just a beauty business, she is building a legacy shaped by passion, faith and hard work.
For Sakhile Mhlanga the owner of Sakhile Salon, talent was never something she chased. She believes it was a gift.“Nothing influences my craft besides that it was a God-given talent from my youngest age,” she says confidently. A blessing she discovered while she was still young.
From an early age, she knew her hands were meant to create. Whether it was braiding hair, doing makeup or working with fashion, she found joy in transforming appearances and boosting confidence. What started as a natural skill gradually grew into a business built on dedication and love for people.“I have always loved doing hands work and working with people,” she explains.
Today, her salon is more than a workspace ,it is a hub of creativity. Inside, neatly arranged clothing racks display carefully selected second-hand garments, blending beauty and fashion under one roof. Alongside braiding and makeup services, she also sells thrifted clothing, offering clients a complete transformation experience.
For her, beauty and fashion go hand in hand. A hairstyle, polished nails, flawless makeup and the right outfit all combine to create confidence. She understands that when someone looks good, they feel empowered.
But she did not stop at offering services. Recognising the power of skill-sharing, she began offering braids and nails classes. Teaching others has become one of the most fulfilling parts of her journey. Through these classes, she passes on not just techniques but independence.
Her work reflects discipline and patience, qualities necessary in both braiding intricate hairstyles and mentoring aspiring beauticians. Each client and student who walks through her doors becomes part of her growing story.
Running a multi-service business requires balance. Managing clients, stocking clothing, and conducting classes demands time management and resilience. Yet her passion keeps her grounded.
Her journey is a testament to what happens when talent meets purpose. What she discovered as a young girl in Nkoyoyo has now become a source of income, empowerment and identity.In a competitive beauty industry, she stands firm in her belief that her gift is divinely inspired.
