MBABANE – The Government of Eswatini has reaffirmed its commitment to uplifting vulnerable citizens through the provision of livelihood support equipment valued at more than E128 000, aimed at helping beneficiaries establish sustainable sources of income and improve their quality of life.
The equipment was officially handed over by Deputy Prime Minister Hon. Thulisile Dladla at the Deputy Prime Minister’s Office in Mbabane on June 5, 2026. The initiative forms part of government’s ongoing efforts to empower vulnerable households, including child-headed families, through practical interventions that promote self-reliance and economic participation.
Speaking during the handover ceremony, Dladla said the support demonstrates government’s determination to ensure that no emaSwati are left behind in the country’s development journey.
“The Government of Eswatini remains committed to empowering vulnerable households and creating opportunities for them to become economically independent. These resources are not merely tools; they are instruments of hope, dignity and self-sufficiency that will enable beneficiaries to generate income, support their families and improve their livelihoods,” she said.
The Deputy Prime Minister further noted that the equipment was procured through funds allocated to the DPM’s Office by government to assist vulnerable citizens across the country.
The beneficiaries and the equipment they received are as follows:
• Matse Sabelo – Music instruments.
• Likhono Lelingumnotfo – Industrial straight sewing machine, industrial overlocker machine and domestic sewing machines.
• Magagula Themba – Chainsaw and grinder.
• Phiwayinkhosi Gumbi – Heavy-duty grass cutter, safety pants, helmet and protective gloves.
• Shabangu Mthobisi – Heavy-duty grass cutter, safety pants, helmet and protective gloves.
• Babe Nhlabatsi – Mechanic’s toolbox.
The equipment is expected to assist the beneficiaries in establishing and expanding income-generating activities within their respective fields. Through the support, they will be able to provide services, attract customers and generate revenue to sustain themselves and their families.
The beneficiaries expressed gratitude to government for the assistance, saying the equipment would help them create employment opportunities for themselves and improve their livelihoods.
They thanked the Deputy Prime Minister’s Office for investing in their future and providing practical support that will enable them to earn an income and become more self-reliant.
The latest intervention reflects government’s broader commitment to poverty alleviation and social protection programmes designed to equip vulnerable citizens with the tools and opportunities needed to build productive and independent futures.
