LOBAMBA – Government has allocated E858.3 million to the Ministry of Labour and Social Security, introducing landmark reforms to protect workers and strengthen skills development.
For the first time, Eswatini will establish an Unemployment Benefit Insurance Fund. “This is a social compact,” Minister Rijkenberg said. “It says: we see you in your moment of vulnerability, and we will not leave you there.”
The fund will provide temporary financial assistance to workers retrenched through no fault of their own, easing household anxiety and stabilising incomes during economic shocks.
Government also hosted the Eswatini National Career Expo, engaging 17,984 participants across five locations. The event provided guidance to in-school youth, out-of-school youth and persons with disabilities.
The launch of the National Human Resources Development Policy 2024–2030 ensures coordinated skills development across ministries. “For the first time, Eswatini has a coherent, integrated national plan for developing its most important resource: its people,” the Minister said.
These reforms strengthen employability, workforce resilience and economic productivity, positioning the country for inclusive growth.
