EDUCATION GETS THE LARGEST CHUNK – E6.4BN ALLOCATED

LOBAMBA- Education receives the largest allocation in the 2026/27 budget at E6.4 billion, representing 16.7 percent of total expenditure.
The Minister emphasised that education reform is central to national transformation.
“Education is where Agape Love makes its longest investment,” he said.

Competency Based Education (CBE) continues its rollout, with 340 Grade 0 classrooms implementing the new curriculum and 243 schools targeted for full materials distribution. Teach at The Right Level (TaRL) is being piloted in 30 primary schools.

Eswatini is also introducing AS/A Level programmes to allow students to earn internationally recognised qualifications locally. Teacher stability has improved, with 243 educators converted from temporary to permanent employment.

Infrastructure expansion is supported by an E85.36 million JICA grant to construct four new secondary schools, one per region.
The Minister highlighted that the E5.06 billion recurrent allocation, E408.7 million capital budget, E194.5 million OVC fund and E702.3 million scholarships reflect intentional investment in youth productivity.
