MLAWULA – A momentous occasion unfolded yesterday as His Majesty King Mswati III officially opened the upgraded SARA Camp at Mlawula Nature Reserve, marking a new era for eco-tourism in Eswatini.

His Majesty arrived in regal style by train from Mpaka Railway Station, accompanied by Emakhosikati and Emazinyane. Upon arrival at Mlawula Railway Station, he was greeted with warmth and respect by the Minister of Tourism and Environmental Affairs, Hon. Jane Mkhonta-Simelane, alongside the Board of commissioners, and management and staff of the Eswatini National Trust Commission (ENTC).

The King began his visit with a tour of the newly refurbished SARA Camp chalets, which have been modernised to offer an enhanced experience for nature lovers. He then embarked on a scenic game drive through the reserve, heading towards the picturesque Magadzavane Lodge. Along the way, His Majesty was shown the ongoing bush clearing operations—a strategic initiative aimed at improving wildlife visibility and enriching the overall safari experience for visitors.

The reopening of SARA Camp reflects Eswatini’s commitment to sustainable tourism and the preservation of natural heritage, while creating economic opportunities for surrounding communities.
