HLANE – Preparations for the upcoming Buganu Ceremony are underway, with authorities carrying out assessments at the Hlane Royal Arena to ensure the venue is ready to host one of the country’s most important cultural events.
The assessment is being conducted by the Ministry of Public Works and Transport as part of ongoing efforts to prepare the arena for the large number of people expected to attend the ceremony. Officials say the evaluation is aimed at ensuring the venue is properly structured, safe and capable of accommodating all planned activities.
According to the ministry, the inspection focuses on several important aspects of the arena, including its functionality, safety standards and overall capacity. These measures are intended to ensure that the venue can comfortably and safely host the crowds who traditionally gather to celebrate the Buganu Ceremony.
Technical teams and engineers have been assessing the grounds and surrounding infrastructure to determine whether any improvements or adjustments may be required ahead of the event. This includes evaluating the condition of the arena grounds, access areas and other facilities that will be used during the ceremony.
The Buganu Ceremony is a significant cultural celebration in the Kingdom of Eswatini, marking the marula harvest season and bringing together thousands of people from across the country. Due to its cultural importance, authorities have emphasised the need for careful planning and preparation to ensure the event is held in a safe and organised environment.
The ministry noted that the project reflects the building department’s commitment to ensuring that the venue meets all required standards. Officials explained that the assessment takes into account the safety of attendees, the functionality of the space and the capacity needed to accommodate the expected activities.
Furthermore, the ministry confirmed that all processes are progressing smoothly and in line with the approved timelines, technical specifications and established standards. This progress, officials say, demonstrates the government’s dedication to ensuring that national cultural events are hosted in venues that uphold both tradition and modern safety requirements.
Once the assessment phase is completed, any necessary work will be carried out to ensure that the arena is fully prepared before the Buganu Ceremony takes place.
